Local team, global outlook.

David was invited to open on office for the Canadian engineering consultancy of Rybka Smith and Ginsler in 1989. Working with the Canadian and London offices, he developed the Rybka brand across the UK, building on the experiences of the parent company to champion an outstanding design service with a major emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency. David led a buy-out of the business in Scotland with the other local Directors in 2003. As Chairman, he is extremely proud of the excellent team that has been built up to deliver a first-class service on some of the most prestigious projects in the country.

Now that David’s two children are grown up he is able to focus more of his spare time on his mandolin/banjo playing for the Bottle Island Ceilidh band. David is very proud of his West Highland roots and regularly returns to his croft in Achiltibuie to enjoy the mountains, the Summer Isles, and the music.

Chris is a Chartered Engineer and Managing Director of Rybka and has been with the business since 2002. Chris has been involved across various project sectors with particular experience in Hotel, Office, Education, and Residential projects. Chris adopts a hands-on approach to project delivery and enjoys working with internal and external project teams to develop the best solution for each project.

In his spare time Chris likes spending time with his young family and is an enthusiastic runner and cyclist.

Kevin joined Rybka in 2015 as a Director after a successful period in both public sector and private building services practices. He has been instrumental in delivering prestigious projects across the UK, and has experience of working on Mainland Europe and in the Middle East. Kevin has a wealth of experience across a wide range of sectors including Healthcare, Hospitality, Arts and Culture and Historic Buildings. He enjoys maintaining and forming new relationships with fellow construction professionals and clients.

Kevin is an ex-professional footballer, who now maintains that competitive spirit on the golf course. He enjoys time with his family and enjoys relaxing by playing the guitar.

John has been with the business for over 16 years and in that time has developed considerable experience in a complete cross section of projects in the public and private sector. John was recently promoted to Regional Director where he will continue to deliver valued engineering input on a number of high profile and challenging projects as he looks to help continue to build the company’s client base, with particular emphasis on securing new opportunities across the central belt, Fife and Aberdeenshire.

John is a registered Energy Assessor with Elmhurst for new-build domestic properties and enjoys playing squash in his spare time.

Since joining Rybka in 2013, Amit has progressed to become Regional Director of our Glasgow Office. With his particular exposure to the Healthcare and Education sectors, Amit has significantly contributed to the delivery of some of Scotland’s most prestigious award-winning public sector buildings. As well as his primary mechanical engineering expertise, Amit also has a keen interest in BD and growing Rybka’s presence in the west of Scotland. He is a Chartered Engineer and has developed extensive knowledge of thermal modelling and low energy design during his time with multinational and national consultancies across the UK.

In his free time, Amit enjoys spending time with his young family, city breaks and occasional running to keep fit.

Paul heads up Rybka’s Digital Construction team, and with over 20 years in the industry, has significant experience delivering projects across a variety of sectors and disciplines.

During his career, Paul has been at the forefront of digital advancements in the construction industry, with a traditional focus on the implementation, and delivery, of BIM. Paul is also responsible for Rybka’s adoption of emerging IT and digital solutions, designed to improve safety, efficiency, and collaboration.

Outside of work, Paul enjoys travel, cooking (eating), and watching motorsports.

Martin is an experienced electrical engineer and low carbon consultant who brings experience from all sectors of construction. Martin is also a lighting specialist and member of the Society of Light and Lighting. Martin naturally has a curiosity towards new technologies and design techniques. This ensures his approach to each project is current, including new technologies where they are appropriate and proven to be beneficial after consideration and analysis. Native to the Highlands, Martin studied and worked in Building Services in Glasgow before returning to Inverness in 2008.

Martin played shinty for Lovat and is currently Vice President of the club.
