Steven is a Chartered Building Services Engineer with extensive knowledge across various sectors including Commercial, Retail, Education, Hospitality, and Residential developments. This experience has allowed Steven to cultivate excellent engineering, IT, and design skills, along with being commercially aware. He is also a WiredScore Accredited Professional. Steven has an approachable personality, is well-motivated, and can operate effectively within a pro-active team culture.

In his spare time, Steven is an enthusiastic golfer, football player, and runner.

With over 40 years of experience, Mike has built up an extensive knowledge of building services within the construction industry. His role includes the complete M&E services designs, contractual and financial control of projects from feasibility to handover, liaising with clients and contractors. Throughout his career, Mike has worked on a wide spectrum of projects including Commercial, Defence, Healthcare, Education, Residential, Hospitality, and Retail developments.

Mike is a devoted husband and is a father to two children (now apparently adults). He enjoys watching rugby and walking the family dog.

Barry joined Rybka’s Glasgow office in 2020 to help increase the company’s presence in that area and currently holds Incorporated (IEng) status with CIBSE.

Barry has over 18 years’ industry experience both north and south of the border across a wide range of sectors and enjoys putting this to good use in providing low-energy designs sympathetic to buildings’ aesthetics. Barry has played a part in the delivery of a number of award-winning public and private sector projects over the course of his career to date.

In his spare time, Barry is a keen runner and enjoys playing and watching football, and spending time with his wife and two young daughters.

Martin is a part of the Mechanical Services Engineering department at Rybka Edinburgh. Alongside his core engineering responsibilities, Martin is also proficient in IES dynamic building simulation modelling including the production of associated energy performance certificates (EPCs). Throughout his time at Rybka Martin has gained significant experience in key sectors including commercial, education and hotel and leisure projects throughout the UK.

In his spare time Martin has completed many distance running events for charity across Scotland.

David is an Electrical Design Engineer with over 7 years’ experience in the building services engineering field having worked on a wide variety of projects in numerous sectors such as Commercial, Hospitality, Education and Healthcare. Since joining Rybka, David has progressed into a lead electrical role, with a broad technical knowledge of electrical design engineering and in-depth knowledge of design software programmes such as CAD, Amtech, Dialux and Lighting Reality.

In his free time, David enjoys socialising, playing football and gaming.

Chris is part of Rybka’s Electrical Services engineering department. Chris is an experienced electrical engineer with over ten years of experience working on a wide range of construction projects, which enables him to understand the client’s requirements in each area. Throughout his career, Chris has worked on a variety of projects, including commercial, healthcare, education, residential, hospitality, and retail developments, delivering M&E packages from conception to completion. The past few years have seen him involved in several Passivhaus projects in schools and hospitals.

In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and football, and keeping fit by going to the gym.

With extensive experience as both a Mechanical Engineer and an Energy & Carbon Reduction Consultant, Alan is an Associate for the growing Building Physics team at Rybka. A CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant, Alan has a keen interest in low energy and low carbon building design and in using thermal modelling and dynamic simulation to inform the design process and reduce the impact of the built environment. Alan has a broad range of experience across many sectors in the built environment including industrial facilities, educational facilities, offices, and hospitality.

In his spare time, Alan enjoys exploring the countryside with his family as well as enjoying playing touch rugby and kayaking.

Ross is part of Rybka’s Electrical Services engineering department. As an experienced Electrical Engineer and Low Carbon Consultant, Ross has worked on a wide range of projects in the construction industry giving him the ability to understand the client’s requirements in each sector. Ross has been in the construction industry for over 15 years, being a qualified electrician brings practical knowledge and experience to each project. Ross has been the lead electrical engineer on small, medium and large projects delivering full M&E design packages through to project completion.

In his free time, Ross enjoys spending time with his family, keeping fit by attending the gym and playing sports such as golf and football.

Since joining Rybka over 15 years ago, Andy has been involved in a wide variety of projects ranging from small domestic properties to large scale healthcare facilities. Andy’s original background is in electrical engineering having previously worked as an electrical design engineer before moving into Computer Aided Design (CAD).

In his free time Andy enjoys fishing, hill walking and watching his local football team in both home and away matches.

David joined Rybka in 2012, bringing with him a wealth of CAD experience on various commercial projects across the UK. David continues to build on his knowledge of CAD through his involvement with a number of large-scale projects, primarily in the healthcare and commercial sectors. He is also currently involved in developing Rybka’s BIM capabilities, collaborating closely with his colleagues on the successful implementation of BIM. David has also gained Autodesk Revit Certified User status.

Ross has over 6 years of industry experience and a BEng (Hons) degree in Electrical Engineering. Ross has experience in a wide variety of sectors including Policing & Crime, Education, Retail, Residential and Hospitality. This exposure to the industry has allowed Ross to acquire a strong technical understanding as well as develop proficiency for design software programmes. Ross is a driven, focused induvial with a keen interest in all aspects of the building services industry.

In his free time, Ross enjoys playing football, travelling, and listening to music.

Calvin has been in the building services industry for over 13 years with nearly ten of those spent in mechanical design. During that time, he has gained experience across a variety of sectors including commercial, retail, residential and education; both new-build and refurbishment. He studied part time at Glasgow Caledonian University, graduating in 2020 with a 1^st Class in Building Services Engineering. He has a keen interest in all aspects of building services and looks forward to learning more as he progresses in the industry.

In his spare time, he enjoys watching football, travelling, spending time with his friends, and going on walks with his dog.

Craig is part of the BIM team for RYBKA. Joining us in 2019, Craig has been tasked with numerous projects, including different sectors such as Healthcare, Education, Sports, and Airports. As an apprentice Craig hopes to keep expanding his experience and knowledge of the construction industry, using software packages such as Revit, AutoCAD, Dialux, and Revizto. He is working with the BIM team to become a key member of a variety of projects delivering the highest quality work.

In his spare time, Craig enjoys motorsports and other activities such as football and cycling.

Jakub joined the BIM team at Rybka shortly after graduating from the University of the Highlands and Islands with a BEng (Hons) In Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. He’s enjoying applying engineering principles and studying the modelling process. Jakub is working with the team to ensure that the BIM modelling process is streamlined, avoids double handling of data, and that a high quality of model output is attained. His particular interest lies in the field of content creation and library management.

In his free time, Jakub enjoys trials biking, gaming, and watching formula one.

Ben joined the Inverness team in 2020 after graduating from Strathclyde University with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering. Having grown up in Aberfeldy, Ben is interested in rural developments and the outdoors. He is developing experience with all aspects of mechanical services design and is interested in low and zero carbon buildings and the use of modelling software in the design process.

Ben is also a keen mountain biker, and spends as much of his spare time as possible up mountains or in the woods.

William is a Mechanical Engineer as part of our team in Edinburgh. He has moved into the building services industry to pursue his interest in this sector, in particular around sustainable practices within this. William has experience designing and developing mechanical systems across all aspects of a project and has utilised this on projects in sectors including Hospitality and Education.

Outside of work, William enjoys playing squash, swimming and watching most sports. He also enjoys travelling and sings in a choir.

James joined Rybka in 2019 having graduated from his MEng programme in Mechanical Engineering. During his time at Rybka, he has been involved in a variety of projects in the Education, Healthcare and Retail sectors and has shown an enthusiasm for expanding his knowledge of mechanical building services. He is further developing his technical skills in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and IESVE.

In his spare time, James enjoys reading, watching movies, and travelling.

Wojciech joined Rybka’s Edinburgh office in January 2022, having graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering. While studying at university, Wojciech gained interest in renewable energy and sustainable design within the built environment. His role at Rybka covers mechanical and electrical aspects of building services. While developing industry experience, Wojciech has a keen interest in modelling software and expanding his technical skills in AutoCAD.

Outside of work, Wojciech is an abstract painter, drawing inspiration from his interests in music, interior design, fashion and the outdoors.

Andrew is an Electrical Engineer within our Glasgow team at Rybka. Andrew has over 5 years of industry experience and graduated in 2020 with first-class honours at Glasgow Caledonian University studying Building Services Engineering part-time.

Andrew has experience working in many different sectors including education, commercial, health care, and transport. Andrew has strong skills working in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Amtech, Dialux, and other design calculation software.

During his spare time, Andrew enjoys watching and playing football as well as spending time with friends and family. He also enjoys travelling and playing golf.

Dean is an Electrical Engineer as part of our team in Edinburgh. With over 4 years of industry experience, Dean has been exposed to a wide range of projects from conception to completion in numerous sectors such as Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Hospitality, Residential & Retail. This exposure to the industry has enabled Dean to develop proficiency for design software programmes and gain the necessary technical knowledge which allows him to carry out a comprehensive design entirely independently and undertake the full range of responsibilities throughout project lifecycles.

In his free time, Dean enjoys keeping fit by attending the gym or an occasional run, watching football, and travelling.

Ewan is part of the BIM team of Rybka and joined us in April 2021. Ewan is currently involved in projects ranging from sports facilities to educational establishments. Ewan joined Rybka as a BIM technician trainee and hopes to gain more experience and knowledge of the construction industry. Ewan is an experienced user of AutoCAD and Revit. He is keen to establish himself as a valued member of the BIM team.

In his spare time, Ewan enjoys archery, fishing, and motorsports.

Rory joined Rybka as a Graduate Building Physics Engineer in June 2022 in the Edinburgh office with a passion to work and design on projects to improve the carbon footprint of buildings. He graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Architectural Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in 2019 and studied sustainability in design through several courses which focused on IES, BREEAM, and life cycle assessments. He has several years of experience as a Building Services Engineer working on projects across the UK and Europe.

In his spare time, Rory enjoys playing tennis and regularly attending football games at the weekend.

Michael joined Rybka’s Edinburgh office in October 2023. Michael Graduated for Ulster University with a degree in Energy, which focus was on low carbon technologies and sustainability. Michael has experience with a various number of projects across different sectors, ranging from education, student accommodations and commercial builds. Michael is keen to continue to grow his experience in mechanical design, as well as expanding his knowledge into other aspects of the industry.

In his spare time Michael enjoys gaming, listening to music and playing football.

Poppy studied BSc Computer Aided Design at the University of West Scotland and has a background in Contemporary Art.

As a BIM Technician, she is developing her BIM knowledge and skillset of Revit, AutoCAD, Revizto and the MagiCAD plugins.

In their spare time, Poppy enjoys going to the gym, motorcycling, and travelling.

Max joined Rybka with 10 years’ experience in CAD, with the majority of it spent in an MEP environment. He has worked in different sectors over that time including MOD contracts, Nuclear & Energy renewal, Education & Leisure, transportation and residential. During this time, he also completed an HNC in Mechanical Engineering.

Working with Rybka, Max hopes to improve his BIM skills and experience working on a variety of jobs within the BIM Team using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Revizto etc.

In his spare time, he enjoys teaching and training in Taekwondo, keeping active with CrossFit and socialising with friends. 

Tommy joined the Building Physics and Sustainability team in 2023, having worked as a building service engineer for 2.5 years previously.

Tommy graduated from University College Dublin with an MENG in Energy Systems Engineering and proceeded to gain experience across the pharmaceutical and mission critical industry.

With a keen interest in low and zero carbon buildings energy policy, data analysis, modelling, and simulation, Tommy is developing his skillset here at Rybka through the integration of cutting-edge modelling software and design.

In his free time, Tommy enjoys running, socialising, playing football and Gaelic football, and watching movies.

Blinne is a Graduate Sustainability Engineer within our Edinburgh office, who graduated from Ulster University with a BSc Honours in Energy. Through her studies, Blinne developed her passion for low carbon design and is now excited to focus on environmental and low carbon assessment methods such a BREEAM and CIBSE TM65 within the Sustainability team.

Blinne also has 2 years mechanical experience in a variety of sectors across the UK and Ireland including Education, Hotel, Student, Residential and Office developments and uses this knowledge on the sustainability projects she works on.

In her free time, Blinne enjoys travelling, playing dodgeball for Edinburgh, and socialising with friends.

Gregor Joined the Rybka Glasgow office in August 2024 after graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BEng in Building Services Engineering.

Through his degree, he gained interest in ways in which advancements in clean energy can be used to de-carbonise the built environment. He is enjoying improving his skills and gaining experience of design processes through working on a variety of projects with Rybka.

In his spare time, Gregor enjoys playing guitar, piano and weekly 5-a-side football.

Scott joined Rybka in 2022 after graduating from Edinburgh Napier University in Energy & Environmental Engineering. His degree has given him an understanding of the necessity for efficient building design and, he now wants to aid in the progression toward climate stability.

His degree has allowed him to develop an interest in sustainable building design, energy systems, and modelling software. Scott’s aspiration is to develop an understanding of all branches of the business, allowing him to take on more responsibilities and develop into a well-rounded engineer in the future.

In his spare time, Scott enjoys an array of exercise, reading, and meeting friends.

Amala, having completed her Bachelors in Architecture from India, is passionate about the sustainable design of buildings and is an advocate of minimalism. She joined Rybka in a student placement role in July 2022, while pursuing her MSc. in Advanced Sustainable Design at the University of Edinburgh and is keen on taking her journey forward as a Graduate Building Physics Engineer, post-graduating.

At Rybka, Amala has been building her interest and skills in climate-based daylight modelling and thermal analysis of buildings using simulation software and looks forward to exploring the dimensions of NZ carbon design strategies and BREEAM assessments, in the future.

In her spare time, she enjoys painting, scribbling poetry, reading and likes to experiment with her cooking.

Joseph joined the Rybka Glasgow office in August 2022 after graduating from the University of Strathclyde with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering. He is interested in sustainable building design and the way in which this can be utilised to de-carbonise the industry. He is currently enjoying developing his skills and learning about the design process whilst working on a variety of projects.

In his spare time, Joseph enjoys activities such as travelling, playing chess or badminton, and watching football.

Sean is a Graduate Electrical Engineer who joined the Rybka Edinburgh team in August 2022 after recently graduating from the University of Strathclyde with a BEng (Hons) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

While studying, he developed an interest in sustainability and energy efficient systems. Currently he is developing his skills as an engineer whilst working on various projects and is gaining experience in the building services industry.

In his spare time, Sean enjoys spending time with friends, watching football and playing the guitar.

Brandon joined Rybka in September 2022 and is an Undergraduate Electrical Engineer who is completing his 4^th year of study in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University.

He is currently enjoying developing his skills as an Electrical Engineer as well as developing his technical skills in software’s such as AutoCAD, Amtech, and DIALux.

In his free time, Brandon enjoys socialising with friends, playing basketball and 5-aside football.

Cameron joined Rybka in 2023 having completed his studies for a BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Heriot-Watt University, where he gained an interest in power systems and some experience with CAD software. A recent start, Cameron has been involved in a few projects, gradually building his abilities and the commercial knowledge not taught on his course, such as BSI.

In his personal time, Cameron enjoys socialising with friends and gaming.

Edward is an Electrical Engineer within our Glasgow team at Rybka. Edward has just recently joined our team after completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Building Services Engineering from Glasgow Caledonian University.

Edward has always had a keen interest in renewable energy, climate change and how these ideas intertwine with Electrical Engineering. He is working on a number of projects and thrives on the continual learning process that comes with being an engineering graduate.

Edward spends his spare time going to the gym and regularly attending his local football team’s matches at the weekend.

Kern joined Rybka’s Edinburgh office in 2021 as an Apprentice Electrical Engineer and is currently studying Engineering Systems part-time at college.

He has now gained experience working on a variety of projects across multiple sectors. Kern is eager to further develop his knowledge and experience within the industry whilst using software products like AutoCAD, REVIT, Amtech and Dialux.

In his spare time, Kern enjoys going to the gym, watching football & socialising with his friends.
