the rybka difference
Efficient and low carbon primary school in the Scottish Borders.
Value: £6.5M
Client: Scottish Borders Council
Architect: Archial Norr
Rybka were appointed as the M&E consultants and M&E clerk of works on this £6.5M new-build primary school in the Scottish Borders. The school features extensive GSHP-fed underfloor heating and a full lighting control system that allows detailed monitoring and control using LCMs, photocells and movement detectors.
The school comprises 12 classrooms, nursery, community hall, library, gym, multi-use games facility, support accommodation and external sports pitches arranged around a curved central street. The use of sensitive materials such as natural stone, timber and zinc means the building sits well with the adjacent historic village centre.
