From the amalgamation of Buckhaven and Kirkland High Schools has arisen the new Levenmouth Academy. Opened in August 2016, the academy accommodates 1,800 pupils and 200 staff.
Features of the academy, for which Rybka were appointed as both the M&E engineer and sustainability consultant, include multi-functional classrooms with AV technology, a Superlab and a range of sport and fitness facilities available to the local community.
The academy is a low energy, predominantly naturally ventilated building with exemplary energy credentials and was awarded ‘Platinum’ rating under Fife Council’s Sustainable Development Checklist.
