Rybka are delighted to have expanded our Building Physics team over the course of 2021, senior hires include Liam who joined us as a senior simulation consultant.
Dr Liam Harrington has 27 years’ experience in both research and consultancy roles in the field of building physics. His specialties are CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and building physics software development.
He has worked on hundreds of complex projects ranging from orchestra halls to birthing suites, cold stores to data centres, shopping centres to power stations, and operating theatres to multistorey car parks. These projects analysed ventilation system performance, thermal comfort, flue gas dispersal, pedestrian comfort/safety, condensation risk, wind noise, and rain ingress for clients including Amazon, AstraZeneca, BAE Systems, BBC, DHL, Intel, NHS, Rolls Royce, United Utilities, and Walmart.
Liam’s experience in CFD led to working abroad for extended periods in the US, Namibia, Australia, and Sweden and led to projects outside building physics including designing pMDI inhalers and flow meters.
Career highlights include studying the ventilation of termite mounds in Namibia, and four days of flying on the NASA microgravity parabolic flights (aka the vomit comet) in Houston, Texas.
Liam is also a CIBSE Building Simulation Award Winner in 2019. We look forward to offering Liam’s vast skillsets to our clients at Rybka.
