A Visit to the Scottish Parliament

Last week, some of the our Building Physics and Sustainability team visited the Scottish Parliament to attend the very informative and interesting CIBSE Smart Buildings CPD and Networking Event.

SSE explained the ongoing work being undertaken in the parliament, the challenges being overcome by the site-based team and how the BMS and systems are being updated. This was followed by a brief guided tour of the building, an introduction to the BMS systems being used and a demonstration of how difficult some of the routing and installations have been due to the nature of the building and materials used during construction.

“There are no problems, only challenges”, was a phrase that was used repeatedly during the visit, as SSE look to turn the Scottish Parliament into a hub of low carbon technology over the coming years.
