Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries has won the 2017 Doolan Award for Best Building in Scotland

On 7th November, it was announced that the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) Andrew Doolan Award for Best Building in Scotland 2017 was awarded to the Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries (DCLG).

Designed by Richard Murphy Architects, the £12.4m building located in the heart of Dunfermline provides a range of facilities, including a library, museum, gallery spaces, café and shop.

Rybka have been involved throughout the project, from design conception to post-completion, providing the full building services design for the complex and unique architectural design. Rybka also provided sustainability consultancy services, assessing the project against the Fife Sustainability Checklist, for which it was awarded a ‘Platinum’ rating.

The modern new-build element has been successfully woven into the historic Carnegie Library building, which was first opened in 1883.
